The Square Club

Updated: Apr 30, 2020

I was lucky enough to try the new spring menu at the Square club restaurant. An award winning restaurant within the grand Berkeley Square Hotel, a beautiful Georgian building on Berkeley Square just of the Triangle.

First impressions were great, the staff were polite and helpful showing us into the lounge to enjoy a pre-dinner drink. first thing you'll notice walking through to the lounge is the trendy eclectic decor I mean there is a peacock on the wall for crying out loud!

After being shown to our table we were given a pretty great wine list. We chose the Don Jacobo Rioja Crianza - a nice Rioja, very a fruity taste with a bit of spice.

After a little while and a couple of recommendations from the waiter we decided to start with - Heritage carrot, spring peas, dukkah (VE) and the Tomato consomme, confit tomato, crème fraiche and chive (V) Both these dishes were very well presented and very enjoyable considering iv never tried a tomato consomme before I was pleasantly surprised.

For mains - Rabbit ballotine polenta, wild garlic, onion, wild mushroom and Braised Fennel, celeriac broth, gnocchi, fennel & Seaweed (V) with a side of Jersey royals with truffle butter. I chose the Rabbit which was a recommendation of the waiter and it did not disappoint id definitely reorder 100%. I also tried some of the fennel dish which was very interesting with the sweet and crunchy charred fennel within the warm earthy broth as well as pillow soft gnocchi.

For Dessert the Chocolate namelaka pear, pink peppercorn (VE) and the Baked cardamom custard, rhubarb, pistachio & rose. These were absolutely stunningly beautiful and incredibly delicious, I don't think there was a single bit left on either plate by the time we were finished.

I was very impressed by the venue itself, the lovely staff and fabulous food. All of them combined ensure we had a very pleasant evening and i would definitely be returning. More than likely to try the Sunday Roast that iv heard good things about. It's also worth bearing in mind they do have some great offers such as two course from the A La Carte menu for just £19.95 or three for £24.95... Monday – Thursday from 6pm

Thankyou very much Square Club Bristol
